Eastern
Phoebe
In 1804, naturalist John James Audubon attached silvered thread to an Eastern Phoebe's leg, marking the first recorded bird-banding experiment in North America.
Unlike most birds, they often reuse the same nest year after year, or renovate old nests built by American Robins or Barn Swallows.
While they mostly catch flying insects like flies and wasps, their diet is diverse enough to include ticks and spiders.
