Javan
Myna

Acridotheres javanicus

The Javan myna was introduced to Singapore in the 1920s through the pet cage-bird trade and has since become the most common bird on the island.

While they are thriving and considered invasive in places like Singapore and Malaysia, they are classified as Vulnerable in their native habitats of Java and Bali due to heavy cage-bird trapping.

Unlike the closely related Common Myna, the Javan myna is darker overall and lacks the bare yellow skin patch around the eye.
