Lark
Bunting

Despite its common name, the Lark Bunting is neither a true lark nor a true bunting; it actually belongs to the American sparrow family (Passerellidae).

Female Lark Buntings are notoriously picky about their mates, and what they prefer changes from year to year—one season they might favor males with more black feathers, and the next season they might look for bigger wing patches or specific beak sizes.

A flock or group of buntings is poetically referred to as a "decoration," "sacrifice," or "mural" of buntings.
