Lesser Black-backed
Gull

Originally a European species, they have become increasingly common winter visitors along the East Coast of North America, likely due to a population explosion in Iceland.

Despite the name, they are still fairly large gulls, with wingspans around 4½ feet.

Unlike Herring Gulls or Great Black-backed Gulls which have pink legs, adult Lesser Black-backed Gulls have bright yellow legs, making them easier to identify.
