They get all the water they need directly from their food and often nest high in pine trees far from any standing water source.

In the winter, northern migrants join resident southern populations to form large foraging flocks of 50 to 100 birds or more.

Unlike most other warblers that strictly eat insects, pine warblers regularly visit backyard bird feeders for suet, peanuts, sunflower seeds, and mealworms.
