Say’s
Phoebe
The bird is named after Thomas Say, a prominent 19th-century naturalist often called the father of American entomology.
Unlike many of its cousins, it thrives in arid deserts, badlands, and open prairies with a distinct lack of attachment to water.
They frequently build cup nests on human-made structures like abandoned buildings, barn rafters, bridges, and machinery, and sometimes reuse swallow nests.
