Swinhoe’s
White-eye

Zosterops simplex

For a long time, scientists thought it was a sub-type of the Japanese white-eye, but DNA studies in 2018 proved it is a separate, full species.

They are very gregarious birds that travel in small, active flocks while making high-pitched twittering and melodious calls.

It has a bold, distinct white ring of feathers around each eye, making it look like it is wearing tiny white spectacles.
