Tanager
The bright red feathers on a male's head come from rhodoxanthin, a rare pigment they do not produce themselves. They absorb it from the insects they eat.
They love to eat stinging insects. They catch wasps and bees, then rub the stinger off against a branch before eating them.
They breed further north than any other tanager, reaching into the Northwest Territories of Canada and southern Alaska.
