They use a "sit-and-wait" hunting style, perching on dead tree branches before zooming out to catch bugs in midair with extreme precision.

They look almost identical to the Eastern Wood-Pewee, and experts usually have to listen to their calls rather than look at them to tell them apart.

They are known to keep singing late into the warm summer evenings long after most other woodland songbirds have gone quiet.
