Yellow-vented
Bulbul

Pycnonotus goiavier

They are one of the most common urban and garden birds in Southeast Asia, thriving in city parks, backyards, and open areas rather than deep forests.

While they mostly eat berries, figs, and small fruits, they also sip flower nectar, nibble on young leaf shoots, and catch flying insects.

The word "bulbul" comes from an Arabic term meaning "nightingale," though bulbuls are not actually related to nightingales.
